TL:DR - Specialty card preview, tarot card info from our friends at Natwuns

Hey Everyone,

During the campaign we unlocked some specialty cards that could be handed out to players depending on their behaviour: Coward, Murder Hobo, and Perma Death.  We are lucky to have the talented Fluffy Folio (website | instagram) design these cards, and below are the first sketches of what they'll look like.

The Eternal Tarot

A good friend of mine is currently running a campaign where you can get some pretty cool physical or digital tarot cards. He also launched the successful Tomb of Magical Tattoos project last year on kickstarter which I was fortunate enough to have contributed content to.  We created a pair of luminous, (holographic silver and gold foil) and lovingly illustrated, fantasy themed "Rider-Waite" tarot decks inspired by the majesty of the sun and the mystery of the moon. The decks stylistically and thematically complement one another, and can also be used with a beautiful hardback supplement containing mechanics that infuse the card with magical ability and allows them to be dropped into your 5e games!

TL:DR - Surveys will send out closer to manufacturing, general timeline, item spotlight

Hey everyone,

The next couple of months are being devoted to having the artwork produced, and I wanted to give you a general timeline for the project as a whole.  These are estimates based on talks with our manufacturer and I will let you know in future updates how everything is progressing and what has already been completed. 

Timeline

• August to December - complete artwork, text copy/editing
• December/January -  send completed files to manufacturer,  receive prototype for approval
• January/February/March - manufacturing (~45 days), surveys sent to backers
• March/April/May - Shipping from China to distribution warehouse
• June - shipping to backers

Digital copies will be made available earlier so backers will be able to start using items in their games while they wait for physical copies to ship.

Item Spotlight

Finger Traps

This item started out as a way to figure out how to keep a spare rope with the player in a non-invasive way.  That led to the thought of rope traps, and then being able to have traps on hand (ha!) when needed.  One of the rings was designed to look like a hunting trap closed in on itself with alternating teeth making up the design. The other has a knot design to give the impression of a tied or tangled rope. 

Hydra Flail

Originally this was going to be modelled after Cerberus, with the fail having 3 dog shaped heads with the ability to cast fireball. Another item (Dragon Tooth) had a similar ability and the item didn't have a malfunctioning element so it was adapted to the hydra flail.  The flail starts off with 1 head and grows a new one after each successful attack, until the player isn't strong enough to wield it.

Really Cool Stuff

Hey everyone, 

The project is coming along, and I should have more info in our update next month. In the meantime wanted to share this insanely cool Kickstarter called Mythic Potions which I thought many of you would find interesting. I'm not affiliated with them (and won't make a habit of sending updates about other projects) but I backed their first Kickstarter and am excited about backing this one. Below are pictures and info if you wanted to check it out - they are going to be wrapping up in the next few days.

Mythic Potions

The kickstarter is a series of fantasy themed mugs, dice boxes, potion bottle shaped dice containers, dice towers, and more. They comes as 3D printable files which are 100% support free which means you set them up and when they are done printing they look as amazing as what you see in the picture. 

They have links to free files you can download and print right now to see if you like them before you pledge (I'm printing the oxen one on my Ender 3 while typing this).  Click on the image above to get the Oxen Potion bottle, and the image below for the Lion's Brew Mug. Mugs are pre-sized to be able to fit various sized cans.  They have more free sample files on their page HERE. 

Here are some pictures of one of the mugs I printed and started to paint (work in progress). I also printed different mugs for members of my D&D group. We recently started a new game and they are lower level they are using a lot more potions to stay alive, so I'm looking forward to being able to print out pretty much everything from this new project.  In fact I already send the project link to a bunch of my players so they can let me know what they want me to print for them next.

G4 D&D Games

G4TV (Attack of the Show, X-Play, Electric Playground) held a series of live D&D games on their youtube channel this weekend. Games included celebrities like Kevin Smith, Deborah Ann Woll, Jack Black,  Seth Green, and Patton Oswalt. If you missed it HERE is a playlist where you can re-watch them.

Hey everyone, 

Here is what's been going on with the project.

Project Update

I've received the invoice from the manufacture. I will be sending them some of the artwork that has already been completed to make sure that the color profile, bleed/cut lines, and form factor are correct. They informed me that this step is what typically delays the start of mass manufacturing so I'm getting started now while the other artwork is being developed.

Please note that I will connect with these backers to make adjustments to items to fit within the theme of the project, so these descriptions may change.

 Cool Program

Toronto Public Library is running a Choose Your Own Adventure program tomorrow which is D&D themed (Thurs July 15, 4-5:30 EST) . It's a cool way to get a big group together and communally take part in an adventure where their choices will lead them down different paths. After the program is over the registion link will let you re-watch it on demand whenever you like.  So what's going on? Well, there are whispers of a revolution and an unlikely band of kobolds has answered the call! Down with the king!

General Update, Communication, and Item Polls

TL;DR - Things are coming along, communication at least once a month,  item polls close in a week

Hey everyone,

It's been 2 weeks since the campaign finished, and I wanted to give you some information about what's been going on. Before I do, don't forget to check out my artist's project which is in its final 29 hours. Heliana's Guide To Monster Hunting: Discover lethally thrilling adventures, new and fully illustrated items, spells, and monsters along with rules for how to track, harvest, and craft from your kills. With some of the most talented DnD artists involved, 18 stretch goals unlocked, more than 1.5 million (USD) raised, and over 14,700 backers, (aside from my KS) it is the project I'm most excited about this year!

Progress

I received a notice this morning from KS that funds have been collected and will be transferred to me shortly. In the meantime here is what I've been up to:

• Pledge manager fees paid
• Shipping company deposit paid
• Waiting on manufactures to send contract (in progress)

What comes next: Once I get the manufacture contract I can sign off and put down a 50% deposit. Artwork will take a couple of months, but I have some pieces already done which will be sent to the manufacturer to make sure they meet specifications which should make production go more smoothly. After all of the assets are submitted a prototype will be sent to me to check the quality of the product and send pictures to you! After approval we go into mass production.

Communication

Moving forwards I will be sending out at least 1 update a month, even if there is not much to share. The next update will be to announce all of the new items that were unlocked through stretch goals and voted on by you (see below).

As we unlocked new item cards everyone was given the option to submit ideas and vote for their favourites. The polls will be closing next Wednesday at 10pm (EST) so make sure you vote for the items you like. I will connect with the backers whose items are selected so that we can work together to incorporate them into the deck. Here are the poll links:
